As <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/bitcoin-twitter-handle-anti-lightning-btc\/\">reported by Ethereum World News previously<\/a>, the feed suddenly switched gears on August 18th or 19th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You see, since around 2017, the individual, group, or firm behind the account \u2014 no one really knows who has the \u201ckeys\u201d to the Bitcoin Twitter handle \u2014 has been lambasting Bitcoin for its high fees, what some describe as \u201ctoxic maximalism\u201d, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An average post on the Twitter feed usually involved an image comparing the average fees on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/category\/news\/bitcoin-news\/\">Bitcoin <\/a>and Bitcoin Cash, the latter of which has bigger blocks to support higher on-chain transactional throughput.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this changed. Rapidly. Buy Bitcoin. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5ZJO6EhfJB\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/t.co\/5ZJO6EhfJB<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Bitcoin (@Bitcoin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Bitcoin\/status\/1166752609383800833?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">August 28, 2019<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you removed any association to the @Bitcoin handle, the tweets would look they were published by any other Bitcoin maximalist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/?s=Roger+Ver\">Roger Ver<\/a>, a proponent of Bitcoin Cash and the executive chairman of Bitcoin.com, hasn&#8217;t been all too pleased with the direction that the account is taking. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Z3bBzdsdLTU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">interview with CoinTelegraph published on Thursday afternoon<\/a>, the long-time cryptocurrency entrepreneur said that he knows the original owner of the handle, who Ver says has been involved in Bitcoin since 2009. Ver claims that from what he has heard from him, the previous owner is &#8220;distraught&#8221; over the direction that the handle has taken: memes, Bitcoin maximalism, and anti-Bitcoin Cash rhetoric. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Roger Ver: &quot;Bitcoin Got Hijacked&quot;\" width=\"1120\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z3bBzdsdLTU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What&#8217;s funny is that not only is Ver&#8217;s unnamed peer distraught, but others in the cryptocurrency community too. Larry Cermak of The Block called the new posts &#8220;cringe&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/EC_N5-iX4AAYmhL.jpg:large\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A blockchain researcher, Patrick McCorry, issued a multi-part thread on the direction that the handle has taken, claiming that he, himself, is &#8220;ashamed by the new BItcoin posts&#8221;. He wrote in an impassioned tweet: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Bitcoin should be a liberating force for individuals are the world to transfer value across the internet.
