According to its official report of the incident, the KuCoin risk management system begun detecting unusual crypto withdrawal activity today, September 26th, around 02:51 am (UTC + 8). The team at KuCoin then responded and prevented further loss of funds.<\/p>\n<p>KuCoin&#8217;s CEO, Johnny Lyu, then scheduled a livestream at 12:30 pm (UTC + 8) where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kucoin.com\/news\/en-kucoin-ceo-livestream-recap-latest-updates-about-security-incident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">he confirmed<\/a> that all users affected by the hack will be compensated via KuCoin&#8217;s insurance fund.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/poloniex-kucoin-to-share-liquidity-and-more-in-new-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KuCoin<\/a> had also tweeted about their plans to compensate all affected users fully. In the meantime, all deposits and withdrawals are suspended until further notice. We will keep you updated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Over $150M in Bitcoin, Ethereum and Other ERC20 Tokens Were Taken<\/h2>\n<p>With regards to how much was withdrawn by the KuCoin hackers, <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/43015\/cryptocurrency-exchange-kucoin-likely-hacked-reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">initial reports<\/a> indicate that the total of Bitcoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/category\/news\/latest-ethereum-eth-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ethereum<\/a> and ERC20 tokens taken, is valued at $150 Million.
