In a year where literally all mainstream asset classes posted near-record gains (the Nasdaq gained a jaw-dropping ~40% and gold surged over 15%), the second-largest cryptocurrency fell by 2.67%, meaning that it fell by 50% against BTC in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this harrowing performance, analysts are becoming convinced that the popular altcoin has finally bottomed against the U.S. dollar at least, and is getting ready to surge higher from here.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ethereum Prepares For Upward Momentum<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Over the past few days, Bitcoin has begun to gain momentum once again, pushing past $7,400 after remaining trapped under that level for the past two-odd days. Altcoins have followed suit, posting gains that are just around what BTC registered.<\/p>\n<p>While the momentum has slowed over the past few hours, analysts are expecting continuation in the coming days for Bitcoin, XRP, and, arguably most importantly in this context, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/?s=Ethereum\">Ethereum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Josh Olszewicz, an analyst at Brave New Coin, recently noted that he expects for the cryptocurrency to see a 10% rally against the U.S. dollar, citing a bullish ascending triangle pattern that has formed over the past month.<\/p>\n<p>This has been echoed by a trader going by Smokey, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SmokeyXBT\/status\/1212883710770630658\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">noted<\/a> that the cryptocurrency has managed to break past its range highs, then retest them as support, establishing a base for a surge higher in the coming days.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24ETH&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">$ETH<\/a> | USD | 4h Timeframe<\/p>\n<p>Actually looking better than Bitcoin imo.<\/p>\n<p>BTC managed to reclaim midrange and ETH ran as well.<\/p>\n<p>Broke range highs and retested them succesfully. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kTRKsjoBWh\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/kTRKsjoBWh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Smokey Hosada (@BeegSmokey) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BeegSmokey\/status\/1213943265986256897?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">January 5, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Bottoming On A Long-Term Basis<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ethereum is purportedly also providing reasons for investors to be bullish on ETH on a long-term basis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"svecc-content-banner-added\">Michael Van De Poppe, a noted cryptocurrency analyst and a trader at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoMichNL\/status\/1213163134380322819\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"exclude\">recently touched on this sentiment<\/a>\u00a0in one of his analyses published to Twitter.
