Askren in December 2018 published the below tweet:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just got to talk to the man <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SatoshiLite?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@SatoshiLite<\/a> !!!! Awesome vision and passion, can\u2019t wait to see him push LTC forward.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Funky (@Benaskren) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Benaskren\/status\/1071139254154223617?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">December 7, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Later, he was seen wearing a Litecoin-branded shirt and the Litecoin Foundation even sponsored a UFC event.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Askren has been interacting with the industry, delving into the cryptocurrency space after he retired last year.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Litecoin and Bitcoin, Askren has largely ignored the other digital assets, until today anyway.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Askren: XRP is a Scam<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Benaskren\/status\/1222235159015100418\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tweet published on Tuesday,<\/a> the former UFC fighter said that he thinks &#8220;XRP is a scam,&#8221; responding to one of his followers who said that Askren&#8217;s silence on XRP means the cryptocurrency &#8220;will take a long time, if ever, to moon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I think XRP is a scam <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ye3E53dM3E\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/t.co\/ye3E53dM3E<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Funky (@Benaskren) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Benaskren\/status\/1222235159015100418?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">January 28, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Askren is the latest prominent industry commentator to have bashed XRP.<\/p>\n<p>Tone Vays \u2014 a former Wall Street trader turned Bitcoin analyst \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/tone-vays-bashes-xrp-crypto-0-price-value\/\">said the following in an interview BlockTV<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Ripple token itself has absolutely no place. It is now, more than ever before, just a security of the Ripple corporation\u2026 Everything about XRP is bad.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He even distinctly called XRP a &#8220;scam coin&#8221; on one occasion. Though, far from everyone is convinced Ripple&#8217;s intent to list shares on public exchanges automatically makes XRP a scam or a useless asset.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Not a Scam<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Not everyone is convinced the asset is a scam though. Mati Greenspan of Quantum Economics, a prominent cryptocurrency commentator, said that he believes XRP is providing good technology, backed by a strong team at Ripple. For instance, Ripple has On-Demand Liquidity, which adopting companies say has allowed their clients to pay upwards of 80% less in fees for remittance payments and other financial processes that require inter-bank, international data, and money transfer.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Good tech.
