{"id":59872,"date":"2020-01-31T15:25:40","date_gmt":"2020-01-31T13:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/?p=59872"},"modified":"2020-01-31T11:25:51","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T09:25:51","slug":"mcafee-continues-bitcoin-tirade-btc-is-the-hotmail-of-crypto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/mcafee-continues-bitcoin-tirade-btc-is-the-hotmail-of-crypto\/","title":{"rendered":"McAfee Continues Bitcoin Tirade: BTC is the &#8220;Hotmail of Crypto&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the 11 years that the cryptocurrency industry has existed, Bitcoin has been at the top; BTC has always had dominance over altcoins, managing to outpace the growth of other digital assets, even with the introduction of what are called &#8220;Bitcoin killers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This seems to be for good reasons: altcoins, even those that have promising technology, have failed to gain the adoption they need to succeed, are subject to harsh regulation by the world&#8217;s authorities, do not have enough market liquidity to be a viable investment or even utility token, or have a skewed tokeconomics model unlike Bitcoin&#8217;s strict supply cap and set inflation schedule.<\/p>\n<p>According to John McAfee, however, Bitcoin is quickly proving itself to be the &#8220;Hotmail&#8221; of crypto.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Bitcoin Is Archaic Technology?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In a tweet published Tuesday, McAfee said that he believes &#8220;Bitcoin is the Hotmail of Crypto,&#8221; referencing the mailing service&#8217;s booming start buy rapid fall from grace after the introduction of competing services in Gmail, etc. that may have been deemed &#8220;better&#8221; than the incumbent technology.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoWolfSZN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@CryptoWolfSZN<\/a> said it best:<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin is the Hotmail of Crypto.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; John McAfee (@officialmcafee) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/officialmcafee\/status\/1222395079454838785?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">January 29, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This comes shortly after he said that Bitcoin is \u201cold, clunky, [has] no security, no smart contracts, no decentralized apps,\u201d and as a result is <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/mcafee-bitcoin-tune-one-million-price-scoin\/\">thus the \u201ctrue s**tcoin.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This comes shortly after McAfee revealed that his <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/mcafee-bitcoin-price-prediction-2-million-2020\/\">massive Bitcoin price bet was \u201ca ruse to onboard new users,\u201d<\/a> \u00a0presumably citing the mass media coverage this oddball price target created. He went on to write that he thinks while Bitcoin was the first of the cryptocurrencies, \u201cit\u2019s an ancient technology,\u201d before likening the first blockchain to the Model T of automobiles.<\/p>\n<p>McAfee isn&#8217;t the only one to have made such statements about the future of BTC. Per <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ethereumworldnews.com\/could-bitcoin-cash-surpass-btc-roger-ver-thinks-it-can-happen\/\">previous reports from Ethereum World News<\/a>, Roger Ver, former CEO of Bitcoin.com and one of the industry&#8217;s earliest entrepreneurs, said in a CNBC interview that he expect for BTC&#8217;s primacy to be phased out over the next few years by things like Bitcoin Cash (BCH):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe real interesting one is Bitcoin Cash. I think it has the ability to go up a thousand times where it is currently because it\u2019s looking to become peer to peer electronic cash for the entire world.
