Summary:
The co-founder of the Gemini Crypto exchange and Winklevoss Capital Management, Tyler Winklevoss, has thanked Elon Musk for his successful bid on Twitter.
Mr. Winklevoss thanked Elon Musk as news broke that the Tesla CEO and Space X founder will most likely be successful at acquiring the social media giant. According to Reuters, the Twitter board is set to accept Musk’s $43 billion offer to buy Twitter and make it a private company.
In a similar Twitter commentary, Tyler’s twin brother and co-founder at Gemini and Winklevoss Capital Management, Cameron Winklevoss, celebrated news of Elon’s successful bid by pointing out all the ‘negative’ things Twitter
had been known for in the past few years. However, he expressed optimism that Twitter will now be the home of free speech when Elon takes charge. He said:
Good riddance to the censors
Good riddance to the shadow bans
Good riddance to the opaque algorithms
Good riddance to the throttling
Good riddance to the SPAM bots
Hello, free speech!
Cameron Winklevoss also pointed out that some of the fact-checkers at Twitter might soon be out of a job. His brother was quick to suggest that the fact-checkers ‘can go work for CNN+.’ The latter closed shop last week after only a few weeks of operations due to low subscriber numbers. Fewer than 10,000 viewers watched CNN+ each day, and its parent company, CNN, had invested hundreds of millions of dollars on the platform.
In a follow-up Twitter commentary, Tyler Winklevoss was optimistic that we would soon ‘learn how sinister and politically motivated the shadow banning and algorithms were and how dangerous they were to our democracy.’
He also added that ‘the corrupt triangle between the government, Big Tech, and the corporate media will be broken once [Elon Musk] reboots Twitter.’
